Last evening, our director Kevin Yuk participated in Konigsdag, the King's Day Reception hosted by the Netherlands Consulate General in Guangzhou. Held at the Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou from 6 to 8 pm, the evening brought together business, government, and policy representatives under a sea of orange ties and cocktail dresses. The cocktail format made for efficient networking: standing tables, passing canapés (including the obligatory Dutch bitterballen), and conversations spanning supply chain resilience to cross‑border investment trends.
As a co‑founder and a director of Leveler, we found particular value in reconnecting with the Senior Economic Advisor we recently hosted and in observing how the Consulate actively cultivates ties with members of the Guangzhou Institute of the Greater Bay Area. Events like these reinforce the value of open, cross‑border dialogue—and for a firm like ours that facilitates strategic connections, evenings such as this are less about celebration and more about listening to what trade corridors need next. No seated formalities, just direct dialogue. That, in itself, was the main takeaway.
